Areas of Treatment

D'Lisa has worked in a number of different settings including inpatient and outpatient/PHP services, private practice, and with foster and adoption in the state of Texas.  She was recently promoted to the role of Clinical Supervisor due to her keen ability to make sound therapeutic and ethical decisions in difficult case circumstances.  Nevertheless, she still maintains a full caseload of Clients at various offices.

D'Lisa primarily works with children and their families to teach new ways of communicating, connecting, and compromising, She believes that there is an underlying cause to every behavior and through communication and exploration, behaviors can be better controlled. D'Lisa uses her passion to help others as a driving force in continuing her education to find the best possible solutions for her clients. Together, through a working therapeutic relationship, she would like to help others make a positive change in their life to find peace and happiness.

D'Lisa compares her duty as a therapist to that of a taxi cab driver. First, the client tells her where he/she or they would like to go or maybe together destinations can be explored. Then, together with some possible road blocks and traffic along the way, D'Lisa will do her best to use her skills to assist her clients in getting to their desired goal(s).  She has completed training to be able to offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a therapy option for clients.  D'Lisa currently provides services at our Aledo and Fort Worth Offices.  She was also recently recognized in DFW Child Magazine as one of the 2017 "Mom-Approved Practitioners" for her work in the Counseling field.

Kristin is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with children, teens, families, and adults.  She has a number of years experience working with these populations in intensive, acute settings, such as in-patient and out-patient psychiatric facilities, as well as a juvenile detention center and private practice.  Her foundation to counseling is client-centered and focuses on the therapeutic relationship while providing empathy and relaying an unconditional positive regard for each individual client.  She utilizes art, play, and sensory techniques to assist in the therapeutic process in hopes that the client will have increased insight and awareness in their thoughts, feelings, and behavior to build a sense of identity and control.  She also provides family therapy to promote positive parenting skills, including behavior management techniques and effective communication tools within the family system.

She enjoys working with an array of mood disorders, developmental disabilities, and behavior issues, such as depression, anxiety, anger/aggression, grief, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, other learning disabilities, and teen substance abuse/dependency.  She prefers to work within an interdisciplinary team of doctors, psychiatrists, school counselors, and other client advocates to ensure the client obtains the necessary and recommended treatment for success.

Kristin notes that she does this kind of work because she loves it!  She enjoys the challenges, the relationships created, the changes made, the sense of pride that naturally occurs when a client accomplishes a goal or makes a step toward their goal. She loves the trust that is built that is unlike any other, and would be honored to help you or your family.
